Updates

You've seen the videos to give you an idea of how fast he's growing, but we had his 18-month check-up yesterday and got the scoop on his actual height and weight. He is 33 inches tall and weighs 26 pounds 2 ounces with a 19 and 1/8 inch head. He's just about average...at least in measurements. :) He got two shots and handled them relatively well, although he does fight a little bit more now that he can.

Yesterday was also his 5th swim lesson. The first two went pretty well, although he was clingy to Daddy. The next two were not so great. He cried most of the time and we never could figure out why, although it did happen after he got dunked for the first time. He doesn't cry when we dunk him in the community pool, but he does not like water in his eyes (neither do I!). However, yesterday the swim lessons went really well. I was prepared to join Connor and Brad in the water if he seemed to want me like he has the past couple of weeks, but he was pretty happy and enjoyed the class without me having to get wet.

He continues to do and learn new things, which is so fun. He knows lots of body parts including eyes, nose ("no"), mouth, tongue ("aaaahhhh"), ears, knees, fingers, toes, cheek and hair. He has started coloring and he understands a lot of things including commands like "bring me a book", "go get your juice", etc. We're working hard on colors and although he might be able to pick out certain ones on command, we can't really tell yet because he likes to grab anything in front of him so who knows if he intentionally picks the "blue" one when he also picks the yellow one.

He has 12 teeth that are all the way in and his upper and lower i-teeth have broken through the gums. Then we will just have one set of molars to go. He takes teething pretty well. While he may grumble and moan during his sleep, he doesn't really wake up and need attention. We haven't taken him to the dentist yet. The doctor recommends not until age 3, but Brad added him to his dental plan this year so we might go later in the year.
