Trip to Chicago

Renee and I were worried that Connor's ears would bother him on airplane, especially with his ear infection troubles he's had the last few months. So we were hesitant to take him on a plane. But we relented, because he told us he wanted to see his relatives in Chicago. We had a bottle ready for him to drink if he started whining. But, overall, he didn't really fuss much. On the way back to Dallas he was a little bit of a mess, but it's not like he cried the whole way. He slept in my arms for about 30 minutes, then after he woke, we tried to distract him with toys. While at the hotel in Chicago, he didn't sleep very well :-( His mattress, which had some plastic, made a lot of noise as he rolled around in the crib. We think that's at least part of why he didn't sleep well. The last night, we had partyers on our floor -- doors slamming shut, loud music blaring -- driving Renee and me insane. So I went to talk to some folks, asking them to tone it down. They said they would. But we still heard noise and music for another hour or so. He had a great time at my brothers house. People held him and played with him. And he loved it! He loves all the attention. Of course, we run the risk of him not be able to play alone by himself. But he's such a precious little boy, so we'll take that risk!

ADDITIONAL INFO FROM RENEE:
While we were on this trip, Connor had a few firsts. As Brad mentioned, Connor didn't sleep well. The first nignt, after we had all been asleep for a little while, we heard Connor fussing a little bit. I look over at the crib and he was sitting up. He had never done that on his own before and just so we knew it wasn't a fluke, he did it again after I laid him back down. From that point on, he has mastered getting to a sitting position on his own and even does it during diaper changes. So, along with being able to crawl, sitting up on his own and starting to pull up...we're in trouble! While we were in Chicago, Connor got to actually "play" at the park. He enjoyed his first swing ride, but he was a little less enthused about the slide. I don't have photos of that because I was busy making a video, which will be uploaded soon.
