New experiences

We've been introducing Connor to a lot of new experiences lately. Last weekend, while we cooked out on the grill it was really hot outside so we broke out the Elmo sprinkler mat. When he first saw the water coming out of it, he didn't really know what to do, but he quickly became intrigued and started trying to catch the water and put it in his mouth. It didn't take long for him to realize he could just drink the water right off of the mat and not worry about "catching" it. :) Of course, he made his rounds to the slide and sandbox...all with his soaking wet diaper. Grandma also entertained him with bubbles while the steaks and chicken got well done.

Later that weekend, we went to Scarborough Renaissance Faire and spent the afternoon pulling Connor around in the wagon while watching all of the interesting people dressed up in Medieval and other questionable attire. There were a few animals to be seen and ridden (but we didn't) such as camels, elephants, llamas, ponies and a cow. We watched a belly dancing show and Connor pushed his way through the crowd to get right up front. We shared a frozen orange slush, chicken sandwich and a variety of fruit. Connor got his first taste of watermelon and he loved it!



Keeping with the new experiences theme, we finally put Connor's seat on Brad's bike and went for a ride. The seat we chose sits between Brad and the handle bars, which we felt was a better view and experience for Connor than him following behind on his own in a little trailer. Once he gets older, the trailer might be good, but this way he can be in the comfort between Daddy's arms. We also got a little windshield to block some of the wind and maybe even some bugs from his face. He doesn't like hats at all, so when we first put his helmet on he immediately pulled it off and fought us while we put it back on. But then we put it on right before Daddy took off, so he became focused on the ride instead of the helmet. This video shows the warm up ride in the alley before we all took to the streets. He really seemed to enjoy the ride and didn't even try to take his helmet off once it was over.
